Yesterday I ran around in circles with two great runner friends. We tackled 26.2 miles as a relay team on an indoor track. Round, and round, and round in 3 hours 46 minutes. Sounds boring, doesn’t it? It wasn’t. It turned out to be a great time, and a good speed workout.
With there only being two narrow lanes, the rule was to run in the right lane, and pass on the left. If there were a few people in front of me not quite going quick enough, I’d need to sprint ahead in the passing lane. Needless to say, I’m pretty sore today!
The other great part of the race was to see the variety of people who came for it, a few children, track teams, older people, beginner runners, people wearing different race shirts, etc. It’s always neat to see the variety of people, and meet some of them too. The running community is full of awesome people.
Before I left home to venture to Milwaukee for the race, I was a tad nervous about staying on track with my vegan diet. I googled Subway and Panera’s menu and ingredient list to note some items I could order from there if needed. I brought a bag of food from home too to prevent any rungry1 binges. The great thing about a vegan diet is that the foods I eat keep me satisfied for longer, and I’m yet to experience a HANGRY2 rage.
1 rungry – Extreme hunger after running.
